“Advocacy through Clarity”
Why I am a Lawyer
The complexity of the legal system can often overwhelm clients. What Courtney loves most about her role as an attorney is breaking down these complexities into manageable steps, thereby reducing anxiety and helping clients focus on their end goals. Courtney’s litigation style emphasizes civility and conflict de-escalation, ensuring a constructive approach while still advocating robustly for her client’s interests. Children, when involved, remain a priority, guiding the proceedings with their well-being in mind.
Motivation and Approach to Law
Courtney’s journey into legal advocacy was driven by a deep desire to support individuals navigating challenging circumstances, particularly those unable to advocate for themselves. This intrinsic motivation continues to guide her practice as she aims to simplify and clarify the legal process for her clients.
My Perfect Client
My perfect client is someone who values honesty and is open to having difficult, yet crucial conversations with a willingness to explore all solutions. My ideal case is one where the goals of both parties are in alignment, allowing me to provide a clear path forward that respects those shared objectives, especially when children are involved. These cases enable me to focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for all parties concerned.
Life Beyond Law
Outside of the legal practice, Courtney spends time with her family and has a passion for outdoor exploration. Living in Colorado’s High Country, she embraces the recreational activities the state offers, making the most of its natural beauty in her adventure with her family.
Unique Personal Experiences
Courtney’s personal and life experiences significantly inform her professional approach. As a parent of two young children, she brings empathy to her practice, understanding firsthand the concerns that accompany family law issues. Additionally, her experiences of growing up with a special needs sister and within a divorced family, and her work as a former prosecutor, enrich her perspective, particularly regarding domestic violence dynamics and the needs in non-traditional families. These experiences enable her to relate deeply to her clients' situations, fostering a supportive and understanding environment.
Professional Associations and Contributions
As a dedicated legal professional, Courtney has embedded herself within key legal communities in the Western Slope to enhance her practice and contribute to the field in her local community.
