Owen speaks Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese and aspires to develop fluency in French. Owen joined Gendelman Klimas Edwards, Ltd. as the Practice Manager in October 2024, where he provides oversight of facilities, billing, accounts payable, and general staff and client support. As an administrator, they offer empathy and personal experience to help clients manage the administrative and financial complexities of their cases.

While no longer directly involved in casework, Owen’s prior experience as a paralegal emphasized client care and cultural sensitivity. Ensuring clients have the information needed to make informed decisions remains a key aspect of their approach.

Outside of work, life revolves around the joys and duties of parenthood. In a perfect world, Owen would revisit learning French, playing the piano, and exploring the realms of fiction through reading and writing.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Owen brings invaluable personal insight into the challenges individuals face when subjected to public scrutiny and policy impact. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, they ensure that clients, regardless of background, feel both understood and welcomed as their authentic selves, striving to make justice and equity accessible to all.

Throughout their career, Owen has actively engaged with multiple organizations, gaining significant experience and contributing valuable insights. Between 2015 and 2019, they served on the board of the Colorado LGBT Bar Association, fulfilling roles as a board member, Social Media/Communications Chair, and Secretary. Their drive for advocacy extended to the then- Gender Identity Center, where they held a position as a board member at large from 2017 to 2018. Currently, they are a dedicated board member and deputy director at the Colorado Name Change Project, serving since 2023. Their ongoing commitment to social justice also includes volunteering as a translator and interpreter with the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network (RMIAN) since 2017.
