Summer Parenting Tips

Summer is here! The kids are out of school and ready to relax, soak up some sun and prepare for their next school year. Parents are looking for the perfect balance of fun and learning time. Children also may have their own agendas. Unfortunately there is no one size fits all solution but, here are a few tips that may be helpful during the summer.

Reading
Make reading something your child enjoys. Find a way for reading to not be so overwhelming by breaking it down into smaller chunks. Whether it be only be for 20 minutes a day together or a chapter a week.

Stay Active
It’s important for your child to stay active and luckily in the summer time there are many options. There is a day camps, sports specific camps, art & theater classes for your child to attend. If that is not affordable, there are many other options such as parks, leagues and coordinating play dates with other kids.

Stay Social
Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community but also to socialize. It’s a great way for both you and your child to meet parents and children from other schools.
